Drainage is the least visible work on a property and the most expensive to retrofit. Planning it alongside the hardscape rather than after it is a design decision, not an upsell.
Common questions.
Why is there standing water in the yard?
Usually grade, compaction, or a downspout discharging where the water has nowhere to go. Diagnosing which one comes before choosing a fix.
Should irrigation go in before hardscape?
Sleeves and lines under future paved areas should, yes. Cutting a finished patio to run a pipe is entirely avoidable.
Does the system need to be shut down for winter?
Yes. Lines have to be blown out before the first hard freeze or trapped water splits pipe and heads. It is a scheduled visit every autumn, not an optional extra.
